Local Areas

The Crown Prosecution Service has headquarters in London and York and operates under a structure of 42 Areas in England and Wales.

The Areas correspond to the 43 police forces in England and Wales with the London Area covering the operational boundaries of both City of London and Metropolitan Police Forces.

There is a virtual 43rd local area called CPS Direct. CPS Direct provides out of hours charging advice for the whole of England and Wales.

These local areas are subdivided into 14 groups (excluding London Area and CPS Direct).
