Conviction for uploading racist videos to YouTube
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has successfully prosecuted a man for distributing racially inflammatory recordings after he uploaded racist video clips to the video-sharing website YouTube. Gareth Hemingway pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to five offences under section 21(1) of the Public Order Act 1986 and was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

CPS publishes guidance on prosecuting Medicines Act offences where a dispensing error has occurred

Following a six-month retrial, three men, Abdulla Ahmed Ali, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussain, were today convicted at Woolwich Crown Court of conspiracy to murder in the "aircraft bomb" plot. Sue Hemming, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism Division, described the plot as "calculated and sophisticated" and one which could have killed hundreds of people. Another man was convicted of conspiracy to murder without being aware that the targets were aircraft.

CPS decision not to prosecute Richard Tomlinson under the Official Secrets Act 1989
The Crown Prosecution Service has informed the Metropolitan Police that it has decided not to prosecute Richard Tomlinson, a member of the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) between 1991 and 1995, for alleged offences committed under the Official Secrets Act 1989. The CPS has also decided not to prosecute alleged offences of blackmail in relation to threats to disclose information.
