Verdict in trial for manslaughter of Private Gavin Williams: CPS statement
31/07/2008
Corporal John Edwards, Provost Sergeant Russell Price and Sergeant Paul Blake were today acquitted of the manslaughter of Private Gavin Williams at Winchester Crown Court.
Reviewing lawyer Stephen O'Doherty said:
"We thank the jury for their careful consideration of this case. We recognised that army life often demands great physical exertion but as a young man had died, it was right that a case be put before the court and the judge agreed.
"We would like to express our sympathy to Gavin William's family at what must be a difficult time."
