CPS Lincolnshire's head in Queen's Birthday Honours list

11/06/2004

Alison Kerr the Chief Crown Prosecutor for Lincolnshire has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Alison, of Chesterfield, has worked for the CPS since it was established in 1986. She actually became a prosecutor back in 1975 and for the past 26 years has been serving the local communities of Derbyshire, Nottingham and Lincolnshire. During this time she has held various positions before taking up the post of CCP for Lincolnshire in 1999.

Alison said:

"I have found working for the CPS very rewarding and it has been a privilege to serve the local community. My work has enabled me to give something back to the people of Lincolnshire."

Over the years Alison has specialised in cases that involve vulnerable or intimidated witnesses and victims. In particular she has taken the lead on developing a National training programme on child abuse cases. She said:

"The CPS has come a long way in how it handles sensitive cases, in particular those involving vulnerable people. Victims and witnesses have now been put at the heart of the criminal justice system through the 'No Witness No Justice' project. The CPS is fully committed to delivering better justice for everybody."

Alison is delighted with her award, but wants to make it clear that the achievement is not all her own. "This is a great honour, but it is also a recognition for my colleagues in Lincolnshire and all our partners in the criminal justice system."

Alison is married with two children at university. She plays an active role in the local community having been a school governor, she is a past president of Chesterfield Law Society and Chesterfield Soroptimists and an active member of St Thomas' in Brampton Chesterfield.
