Crown Prosecution Statement on John McFarlane

Robert Crimp, Crown Advocate for the Crown Prosecution Service in Suffolk, following the sentencing of John McFarlane at the Central Criminal court said: "This was a particularly brutal murder. Ms Griffiths was viciously attacked in her own home by a man whom she knew. Her three children were in the house at the time. Sadly she subsequently died from her injuries. We do not know and may never know what drove him to commit such an act. John McFarlane's guilty plea demonstrates the fact that he knew what he was doing at the time. We at the Crown Prosecution Service would like to extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Ms Griffiths, for whom this must be an extremely difficult time."
