CPS News Brief

The CPS News Brief is the official blog of the Crown Prosecution Service. It keeps readers up to date with statements and alerts on the criminal cases making the news. A diary of major cases and events in the week ahead is also posted on Friday afternoons.

Keir Starmer QC, the Director of Public Prosecutions, welcomed the launch of the new blog in 2010, saying: "I believe that openness and transparency should be the hallmarks of the criminal justice system. I want the public to know more about our work and to understand better our decisions.

"This blog is the latest step in that direction. It will keep the public up to date with what we are doing and explain why we have done it."

Subscribing by RSS is the best way to receive every update made. Just click on the RSS icon on the right-hand side of the blog and add the feed to your browsers reader by adding it as a favourite (or subscribe directly to the feed through http://blog.cps.gov.uk/atom.xml).

Journalists from the national media with questions about the blogs content should contact the Press Office as usual. Members of the public should contact their local or national CPS.
