Two men charged following the death of a police officer in Liverpool


A 28 year old man and a 30 year old man have been remanded in custody, charged with murdering an off duty police officer in Liverpool city centre.

28 year old Andrew Taylor, who is from Cherry Tree Road, Huyton and 30 year old Christopher Spendlove, who is from Brandearth Hey, in Stockbridge Village, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Tuesday, December 23, 2014.

PC Neil Doyle, 36,  died following an assault on him and two other men in Colquitt Street in the early hours of Friday, 19 December.

Andrew Taylor and Christopher Spendlove have been charged with his murder and also two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent against the other two men who were with PC Doyle.

They will next appear before the court on January 6 2015 for a preliminary hearing.
