Two men sentenced for shaving a teenage girl's hair

Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service statement following the sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court of Ryan Kelly, 19 and Aiden Kendrick, 19, to 10 months in a Young Offenders Institution after they pleaded guilty to assaulting a 16 year old girl at a party in Merseyside by cutting off her hair and shaving her scalp and her eyebrows.

Anne McCracken, Senior Crown Prosecutor with Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service, said: "This was a mean and nasty assault on a 16 year old girl that left her devastated.

"These two men took a razor and scissors to her while she slept and shaved off both of her eyebrows, cut off chunks of her hair and shaved the roots of her hair on one side of her head back to the scalp.

"She has been traumatised by what these two men did to her. We were absolutely right to charge this case - the seriousness of what they did on that night is reflected in the comments made by Judge Mark Brown and the sentence that he has given them."
