Man jailed for manslaughter after Walton stabbing

A teenager who killed a man after he forced his way into his home has been jailed for seven and a half years.

Sean Rogan, who is now 19, stabbed Thomas McInerney, 21,  when he broke into his family home and attacked Rogan's mother.
Rogan was seen chasing McInerney into nearby County Road where he collapsed and died.
Rogan stood trial for the murder of Mr McInerney in April. Witnesses could not confirm that the deceased had been stabbed in the street, so  prosecutors accepted a plea of manslaughter.
Prosecuting Brian Cummings QC told the court that the two men had a fight in the early hours of October 23 2011.
Mr Cummings said Rogan ran home and shortly after Mr McInerney burst in.
During a confrontation during which Rogan's mother was assaulted, Rogan stabbed the deceased at least twice with a large knife from the kitchen.
He then chased him on to County Road. Mr McInerney suffered injuries to his heart and lung and bled to death shortly after.
Rogan was jailed for seven and a half years at Liverpool Crown Court.
