Gun murder trio jailed for a total of 99 years

Three men have been jailed for life for the murder of a nightclub doorman.

Bahman Faraji, 44, was shot in the head with a sawn-off shotgun during the early evening of 24 February 2011.

Gunman Edward Heffey, 41, was today jailed for a minimum of 35 years. Jason Gabbana, 29, who ordered the shooting, was given at least 33 years at Liverpool Crown Court.

Simon Smart, 33, who arranged for Mr Faraji to be at the scene, received a minimum term of 31 years.

Former Brookside actor Brian Regan, 53, who admitted being Heffey's getaway driver, was cleared of murder but convicted of perverting the course of justice earlier this year and has already been sentenced to four years and 10 months.

The prosecution said that Mr Faraji, has been lured to his death at the Belgrave pub in Aigburth, Liverpool after being caught up in a gangland feud.

Paul Whittaker, chief crown prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, said: "This was a ruthlessly planned and callously carried out execution of a 44-year-old man in a quiet residential street in a suburban part of Liverpool. The whole circumstances of the offence are quite shocking.

"The police and the CPS will not spare any effort to investigate, prepare and pursue these cases and together we are absolutely committed to driving all organised crime and gun crime out of Merseyside."
