Siobhan Heron, Head of Mersey-Cheshire Complex Casework Unit

Siobhan Heron, Head of the Complex Casework UnitSiobhan Heron qualified as a barrister in 2007 and worked as a prosecutor within CPS South West for seven years, the last three of which were spent in the Complex Casework Unit.

In June 2014 Siobhan became a legal assistant to the Director's Legal Advisor at CPS Headquarters in London, and in June 2016 became the Head of Mersey-Cheshire CCU.

During her career Siobhan has prosecuted a wide variety of cases specialising in human trafficking and labour exploitation.

 

  

Geoff Fryar, Head of Mersey-Cheshire Crown Court Unit

Geoff Fryar, Head of the Crown Court Unit, CPS Mersey-CheshireAfter graduating in law from the University of Wales, Geoff was admitted as a solicitor in 1979. He worked in private practice before joining the Merseyside Prosecuting Solicitors Department in 1982. In 1986, this became part of the Crown Prosecution Service.

In 1996 he became Branch Crown Prosecutor for Liverpool North and then Head of the Liverpool Magistrates' Court Unit. He was also the CPS project lead for the North Liverpool Community Justice Centre.

Geoff was among the first group of CPS lawyers to gain Higher Court rights and one of the first CPS lawyers to appear in the Crown Court. In 2005 he was appointed Head of the Merseyside Crown Advocate Unit and spent several years prosecuting in the Crown Court.

In 2010 Geoff became Head of the Merseyside Crown Court Unit and in April 2011, Head of the Mersey-Cheshire Crown Court Unit. 

Bernard Byrne, Crown Court Unit Manager

Bernard Byrne, Crown Court Unit ManagerBernard is a Solicitor and a Crown Advocate.

He joined the CPS as a prosecutor in 1984 and, working as such in Cleveland between 1984 and 1986 before moving to Cheshire where he worked until 2011.

He is now a District Crown Prosecutor in the CPS Mersey Cheshire Crown Unit in Liverpool and is responsible for the Area's Early Guilty Plea Team and its Rape and serious Sexual Offences Teams.

 

 

Ursula Doyle, Magistrates' Court Unit Manager, Area Lead for Youth Justice

Ursula Doyle, Magistrates' Court Unit Manager, Area Lead for Youth JusticeUrsula is a solicitor and qualified in 1992, having studied English and French Law at the University of Kent, the University of Grenoble and York College of Law.

She joined the CPS in 1990 as an articled clerk and worked in the Liverpool office for a number of years.

She became a District Crown Prosecutor in 2003 and now works in Mersey-Cheshire's Magistrates' Court Unit. She is responsible for the Optimum Business Model trials team and is the Area Lead for Youth Justice.

 

 

Jonathan Egan, Magistrates' Court Unit Manager

Jonathan Egan, Magistrates' Court Unit ManagerJonathan studied Law at the University of Liverpool before completing his Legal Practice Certificate at the College of Law, Chester.

He worked as a solicitor for a criminal defence firm in Manchester before joining the CPS in 2007. He worked as a Senior Crown Prosecutor in Cheshire on a full range cases from motoring matters to murder.

He became a District Crown Prosecutor and moved to the Liverpool office in 2013.

 

 

Keith Drummond, Head of the Allocated Trials Unit

Keith Drummond, Head of the Allocated Trials UnitKeith is a Solicitor and qualified in 1986. He joined Cheshire County Council Prosecuting Solicitors' Department and then transferred to the CPS in 1986.

He  worked in the CPS offices at Macclesfield, Chester and Warrington and became a District Crown Prosecutor in 2011.

He transferred to Liverpool in 2011 and was initially a District Crown Prosecutor on the Magistrates' Court Unit but is now in charge of the Allocated Trials Unit on the Crown Court Team.
