Two men have been found guilty of killing a teenager in a stairwell in Waltham Forest in 2009.

20 year old Kai Shannon was found guilty by the jury at Central Criminal Court on 13 June 2012 of one count of murder and one count of wounding with intent. 20 year old Abubakar Alawi was convicted today (14 June 2012) of one count of manslaughter and one count of wounding with intent.

CPS London lawyer Gary Dolby said:

"The family of Wahab Zaaki have waited some time to see his killers brought to justice and I hope that todays verdict offers them some comfort.

"The motive for this killing has never been established and no doubt so long after the incident these two defendants thought they had got away with their crime.

"Todays conviction shows that the Crown Prosecution Service will vigorously pursue prosecutions in order to bring perpetrators to justice."

18 year old Wahab Zaaki was stabbed to death on Friday 13 March 2009 on a stairwell at the Attlee Terrace Estate, Prospect Hill in Walthamstow. He suffered a total of five stab wounds and died on route to hospital. A friend was with him at the time of the attack was also stabbed as he tried to protect Wahab.

This friend was witness to the attack but it wasnt until March 2011 that he identified the two defendants.

Shannon and Alawi will be sentenced on 6th July 2012.
