Teenagers convicted of Bexley schoolboy murder
26/04/2012
Two teenagers have today (26 April 2012) been convicted of killing a 16 year old schoolboy in a busy street in Bexley.
16 year old Osman Bangura has been found guilty of murder and 15 year old Isaac Walters has been found guilty of manslaughter after trial at the Central Criminal Court.
CPS London lawyer Barry Graves said:
"These two teenagers have both been found guilty of killing Yemurai Kanyangarara. Bangura held the knife which inflicted the fatal wound upon the innocent schoolboy but Walters played an important part in the attack.
"Together the defendants pounced upon the victim from different directions. Within a few seconds Bangura had inflicted what was to be the fatal stab wound before they both made off from the scene.
"The incident happened in a busy area and we have been helped in this case by witnesses who came forward to report what they had seen and I thank them for their assistance.
"I hope that todays verdict will provide some comfort to the victims family at this very difficult time."
