Naveed Ahmed sentenced to life for the murder of his wife

28/01/2015

Naveed Ahmed was sentenced today at the Central Criminal Court to life imprisonment with a minimum of 22 years for the murder of his wife Tahira Ahmed on 27 May 2014 in Northolt. Naveed Ahmed pleaded guilty to the murder on 19 January 2015.

Baljit Ubhey, CPS London Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: "This was a brutal murder. Naveed Ahmed attacked his wife with a large kitchen knife and a metal table leg causing numerous, severe injuries.

"Tahira Amhed was murdered in her own home, a place where she should have felt safe. Domestic abuse of any kind will not be tolerated in our society and we continue to work hard to bring perpetrators to justice.

"The overwhelming evidence against Naveed Ahmed left him no choice but to plead guilty. I hope his sentence today provides some comfort to Tahira's family. Our thoughts are with them at this time."
