Man who brutally attacked a six month old baby sentenced to 12 years

Batchoma Bambanota was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment at Blackfriars Crown Court today after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.

Frances Janusz, CPS London Crown Advocate, said: "This was a brutal and horrifying case of child abuse carried out on a completely vulnerable victim.

"On 22 April Bambanota violently attacked a six-month-old baby. He punched, head-butted and hit the defenceless baby boy, threw him to the floor and twisted his leg, causing a fracture.

"He also attacked the baby's mother who he kicked and punched in the face.

"The overwhelming evidence in this case led Bambanota to plead guilty and he has now been brought to justice for his crimes."

Bambanota was sentenced to 12 years for GBH with intent and four months for assault, to run concurrently.
