Man convicted of attempting to kill police officers

A man who embarked on a “violent rampage” and caused serious injury to a number of police officers was today convicted of attempted murder at the Central Criminal Court.
Christopher Haughton was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of common assault.
He will be sentenced on December 13.
Sarah Maclaren, Head of Homicide at CPS London, said: "On November 19th Haughton embarked on a violent rampage which came close to claiming the lives of two police officers and caused serious injury to other police officers.
"CPS London will robustly prosecute violent offenders so that members of the public, and the police officers who serve to protect them, can feel safe in their communities."
