Four men sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of teenager Peter Hagan

Romell Martin, 22, Dean Harmes, 26, Maliki Ferguson, 21, and Jermal Ferguson 23, were all given life sentences today at the Central Criminal Court for the murder of 16-year-old Peter Hagan on 17 February 2013.

Jenny Hopkins, CPS London Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: "Peter Hagan bled to death in a stairwell after being brutally stabbed at a party in Brixton, south London.

"On 17 February, what should have been a happy celebration of a teenager's birthday turned into a senseless tragedy.

"Sometime after Peter and his friends arrived at the party, a confrontation broke out between Peter's group and an older group including Martin, Harmes, Ferguson and Ferguson.

"A canister of CS gas was discharged and Peter's group was forced onto the balcony of the flat where Peter was fatally stabbed.

"He and his friends managed to escape the flat but he collapsed on the stairs, bleeding profusely.

"CPS London is committed to tackling violent crime which too often results in the tragic loss of life."

Jamaal Ferguson was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 21 years. Rommell Martin, Dean Harmes and Malki Ferguson were all sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 17 years.
