Four men convicted for the murders of Josiah Manful and Aaron Carriere in Leytonstone

Four men were convicted today at the Central Criminal Court for the murders of Josiah Manful, 19, and Aaron Carriere, 21, on 1 March 2014. The murders took place in the early hours of the morning in a residential street in Leytonstone, east London.

Baljit Ubhey, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said: "This deliberate and planned attack brought murderous violence to a quiet residential street in East London.

"Josiah Manful and Aaron Carriere were driving along the street when they were blocked in by four cars which contained the defendants.

"The victims found themselves trapped with no way to escape before they were surrounded and stabbed. The attack took place in less than a minute. A total of 24 stab wounds were inflicted on the two men and they both died at the scene.

"This kind of brutal violence has no place on the streets of our capital and we will continue to work with our police partners to bring offenders to justice. I hope today's convictions provide some small comfort to the victims' families. Our thoughts are with them at this time."

Those convicted of two counts of murder are:

  • Devonte Campbell (20)
  • Casey Jones (19)
  • Alex Bernard (21)
  • Omar Hassan (22)
