Chukwurunim Ozour sentencing statement

Chukwurunim Ozour, 20, was sentenced to 7 and a half years at the Central Criminal Court today after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of 20-year-old Mahad Mohammed.

Cheryl Jones, CPS London reviewing lawyer, said: "The conviction and sentence of Ozour for manslaughter means that four men involved in this brutal attack have been brought to justice for the killing of Mahad Mohammed. Two others were convicted of his murder and one other for manslaughter.

"CPS London is committed to working with its partners to tackle knife and gang crime in London and will robustly prosecute these crimes which cause such pain to victims and their families."

Notes:

  • On 15 June 2012, Jermaine Sawyers and Cori Lindsay were convicted of the murder of Mr Mohammed.
  • Sawyers must serve a minimum term of 20 years and Lindsey a minimum of 14 years and six months.
  • Omar Harrison was convicted of the manslaughter of Mr Mohammed and sentenced to nine years.
