Guidance for this section:

1. Quotes - where possible, it is useful to include quotes to illustrate the concerns of the community and the extent of the harm that crime / ASB is having on themselves or their local area.

2. Background information - this can be used to show additional knowledge about the makeup of the local area.

3. Examples of crime - where possible, it is useful to include actual examples of crime to highlight prevalent offences and crimes that are of particular local concern, with emphasis on the harm of this type of offence on the community.

Statement example:

1) I have spoken to 20 residents, one of whom said: 'I don't go to the shops anymore, I'm too frightened of the youths, I wish I'd never moved here, who would want to move here with all this going on?'

2) Graffiti is plastered everywhere, in subways left over drug paraphernalia can be seen on just about every street. The mere presence of the young people who congregate on the streets is causing harassment, alarm and distress for the local residents as many of them are under the influence of drink and drugs.

3) I have been informed by residents that youths will consume varying amounts of alcohol which results in smashed bottles littering the streets. Some residents are reluctant to use the local shop because they are subjected to verbal abuse and other forms of intimidating behaviour where they use dogs. The presence of these young people and the dogs has resulted in the owner putting the shop up for sale. This will reduce the quality of life for residents here.

The following data lists both the recorded crime and recorded anti social behaviour incidents in the area for the noted period (three months). Local crime statistics for the three month period are compared with national statistics for the same period to illustrate prevalence in the area. The data below should match the priorities listed under 'local priority issues' on the front page

(Statistics on prevalence do not need to be included if the information under 'concerns of the community' robustly illustrates the extent of harm caused to the community):
