The area includes the historic city of Lincoln, several market towns, wide rural and agricultural areas and coastal resort towns.  There is a significant number of seasonal migrant workers, who come to work on the county's farms.

Around 18,000 cases are prosecuted a year by the Lincolnshire team.

There are currently two departments within the Lincolnshire team. One is responsible for cases in the Crown and Magistrates courts referred from police stations in the north of the county, including Lincoln and Skegness. The other is responsible for cases in the Crown and Magistrates courts referred from police stations in the south of the county, including Boston, Grantham and Spalding. Both are supported by a central team of caseworkers.
