Leicestershire and Rutland
In Leicestershire and Rutland, CPS East Midlands serves a population of around 1 million and is committed to providing a valuable public service to their diverse community. The teams prosecute approximately 25,000 cases every year. Of these, over 2,000 more serious cases each year are committed for sentence or trial at Leicester Crown Court.
Dealing with the caseloads (or preparation) for criminal hearings are two teams, the Magistrates Court team and the Crown Court team.
CPS East Midlands employs around 100 staff in Leicestershire and Rutland and has one office based in the city centre. The team is proud that their workforce represents the wider population in the two counties being served. Overall 19 per cent of employees are from black, minority or ethnic backgrounds.
The Leicestershire and Northamptonshire district is part of the CPS East Midlands south sector.
