Murder charges for Leicester house fire

CPS East Midlands has authorised Leicestershire Police to charge an 18 year old man with four counts of murder in relation to a house fire in Wood Hill on the night of 12-13 September. Kemo Anthony Porter was charged on 19 September and appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court this morning.

Steve Chappell, Chief Crown Prosecutor at CPS East Midlands said: "The evidence has been reviewed by a Crown Advocate from the CPS East Midlands Complex Casework Unit, who has decided that there is sufficient evidence to charge and that it is in the public interest for a prosecution to take place.

"It is important to note that proceedings are now active and police investigations are still ongoing. Nothing should be said or reported that would prejudice the accused's right to a fair trial.
