Leicestershire man charged with non-recent sexual abuse

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Leicestershire Police to charge a man with a series of sexual offences against children dating back to 2000.

Lawrence English, from the CPS said:

"In 2016, the Crown Prosecution Service received a comprehensive file of evidence from Leicestershire Police relating to allegations of sexual offences against eight children under 16 involving Robin Maughan from the Market Harborough area.

"Following a review of the evidence, Robin Maughan has been charged with 16 offences against eight victims and a further two charges involving indecent images of children.

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Robin Maughan are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

The charges include sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, indecent assault and taking indecent photographs of a child

The evidence was reviewed by a senior crown prosecutor for the CPS East Midlands rape and serious sexual offences team.
