Chief Crown Prosecutor

Janine was admitted as a solicitor in 1989. After a year in private practice, Janine joined CPS Nottinghamshire as a Crown Prosecutor in January 1991. Two years later she became a Senior Crown Prosecutor. In 2003, she was promoted to District Crown Prosecutor and led one of the Magistrates' Court teams. Six years later, in 2009, Janine took on responsibility for the whole of the Magistrates' Court team. After 20 years of prosecuting in Nottinghamshire, Janine moved to CPS Derbyshire as Senior District Crown Prosecutor.

Before leaving CPS Nottinghamshire, Janine was presented with the Nottinghamshire Law Society Solicitor of the Year award for 2010-11, in recognition of her work across the CJS to increase efficiency in the Magistrates' Courts.

In April 2013, Janine took responsibility for strategic direction and performance management for all Magistrates' Court matters across the East Midlands. She was appointed Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS East Midlands in July 2013, a role that included acting as the Area's champion for victims and witnesses and hate crime. She became Chief Crown Prosecutor in October 2015.

Karen joined CPS West Mercia in 1986 as a temporary administrator and transferred to CPS Nottingham in 1987 as an administration manager. She completed articles at CPS Nottingham in 1991, was admitted as a solicitor in 1992 and worked in the Nottingham City team until 2002.

She then moved to Lincolnshire as a District Crown Prosecutor and in August 2011 was appointed as manager of the Lincolnshire team. Karen was temporary Senior District Crown Prosecutor for Nottinghamshire in 2011 and in July 2012 took on the same role for the Crown Court team when the Area restructured. She was appointed acting Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor in October 2015. In April 2016, following a restructure of senior management across the CPS, Karen was appointed Deputy Chief Crown prosecutor with responsibiity for the Crown Court.

Area Business Manager

Adele ClarkeAdele Clarke

Adele joined the CPS in 1987, after working for the Finance and Rates Department of Chesterfield Borough Council. During her CPS career she has held various specialist roles, including finance and estates management.

In 1999, she progressed to the role of Area Business Manager (ABM) for CPS Derbyshire, then worked for CPS Northumbria as ABM in 2002. Adele was appointed Senior Area Business Manager for CPS Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands Group in 2007, and became Area Business Manager for CPS East Midlands in 2011.

CPS East Midlands Area Management Team

CPS East Midlands has approximately 300 staff. The Area is structured into teams responsible for cases in the Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts, specialist casework and central business functions.
