Suffolk Chief Crown Prosecutor Paula Abrahams explains the work of the CPS Eastern Group Community Involvement Panel:
"The Community Involvement Panel is set up on behalf of the CPS Eastern Group. It covers four counties, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and we have community representatives from all of those counties, who sit on the panel.
"And through that mechanism we engage with them and we consult with them about policy and about changes to the work that we do.
"We used the Community Involvement Panel to consult with them about recent changes to our policy in relation to the area of Assisted Suicide. We also used the panel to ask them to tell us about the changes that the service was thinking about in terms of the Code For Crown Prosecutors and the revisions that were being made to it.
"And working with the public in this way really does help us to bring about more effective prosecutions."
