The Essex office serves the area covered by the Essex Police Force. In the last year the Essex team advised on 14,500 cases; prosecuted 26,900 cases in the magistrate's courts and 3,500 cases in the Crown Court.

Our conviction rate was 86 per cent in the magistrate's courts and 78 per cent in the Crown Court.

Our priorities are:

  • Working closely with the police to recover assets from convicted criminals
  • Looking after our victims and witnesses to keep them fully informed as to the progress of their cases
  • Working closely with the police to provide the best possible evidence in cases
  • Improving our throughput of straightforward cases in the magistrates' courts
  • Working closely with our colleagues in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, so as to make any savings where we can - thereby providing greater value for money.

In the last year the Essex office prosecuted 26,000 cases in the magistrate's courts and 3,800 cases in the Crown Court. Our conviction rate was 86 per cent in the magistrate's courts and 79 per cent in the Crown Court.

The Essex office serves the area covered by the Essex Police Force. It has a central office at County House, Chelmsford.

Essex business is divided on geographical lines with four prosecution teams covering the north east, north west, south east, and south west of the county.

The Essex office employs approximately 160 full-time staff.
