National Policy Publications
The CPS has nationally produced a number of publications detailing procedures and guidance on prosecuting cases, you can view all of the publications on our national website.
These publications include The Code for Crown Prosecutors which sets out the two tests applied by prosecutors when deciding whether to bring a prosecution and various specialists policies for Hate Crime.

CPS Dorset and You provides information on the role of the CPS and how we make our decisions, support for victims and witnesses, hate crime, our work together with the Criminal Justice System in Dorset and national and local demographics.

Annual report
Each year Dorset produces and Annual Report. The report contains information about what we have being doing, new initiatives, successful prosecutions including feature articles on particular cases, the Dorset Criminal Justice Board, and performance and resources. In addition each year the report contains an in depth informative four page pull out section.
We feel it is important to produce an interesting and informative report each year, and our report is widely circulated throughout Dorset with 5000 copies printed each year. Racist Incidents
Each year Dorset produces an Annual Report for Racially or Religiously Aggravated Prosecutions.
The report summarises each of the prosecutions providing details on the offence charged, a summary of the incident including the time and location of the offence, the plea, the Court in which the case was heard in, and the sentence.
The report also provides details of the types of victims for example how many attacks were against taxi drivers or security guards etc and details on the outcome for example the number of successful prosecutions or acquittals etc...

Inspection Report
CPS Dorset has been rated as good in an inspection report by HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate published on 13th December 2005.
The Overall Performance Assessment which was carried out in August provided a benchmark against 14 key aspects of our work, including the service we provide to victims and witnesses, resource management, handling sensitive cases and hate crimes and securing community confidence.
Against the 14 key aspects, Dorset was awarded 1 excellent assessment, 10 good assessments, and 3 fair assessments, with no poor assessments. This amounted to an overall assessment of good.
