Home - Prosecuting Dorset's Crime
Welcome from Kate Brown, Chief Crown Prosecutor
Welcome to the Dorset Crown Prosecution Service website. I hope it will give you more information about how crime is prosecuted in your neighbourhood.
You can find out more about the role of the Crown Prosecution Service, the approach we take to cases and our policies when dealing with different types of crime.
If you are a victim of a crime or a witness you'll also be able to find out about the help and support available.
I welcome your feedback. Please feel free to get in touch via the contacts page.
What's New
Hate crime
It is everyone's right to live without fear and harassment. At the CPS we work very closely with Dorset Police to tackle hate crime.
You can report a hate crime directly through the Dorset Police website.
At the Crown Prosecution Service we have specific policies tackling domestic violence, race and religious hate crime, disability hate crime, homophobic and transphobic hate crime and crimes against older people. You can read more about the policies in the 'working with your community' section.
Bringing Offenders to Justice
Behind Bars is a partnership between CPS Dorset and Dorset Police to inform the public of Crown Court convictions and sentences.
Details of sentences are published on the Dorset Police website.
CPS National Re-structure
With the aim of 'Building Capacity, Resilience and Value for Money', The Director of Public Prosecutions has merged the current CPS areas (excluding London) into 14 Group areas. Dorset have now become part of CPS Wessex, together with Hampshire & Isle of Wight and Wiltshire.
