CPS Direct And Your Local CPS Area

CPS Direct provides out of hours charging advice on behalf of the 42 CPS Areas in England and Wales. These Areas correspond to the 43 police forces in England and Wales with the London Area covering the operational boundaries of both City of London and Metropolitan Police Forces.

CPS Direct also advises British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police and the Immigration service. This data is included in the figures for the CPS geographical area where the offences were charged. For the indvidual CPS Direct performance data relating to these police forces please contact us.

In 2007-2008 CPS Direct answered 171426 calls. For the same period CPS Direct provided 135813 charging decisions, making approximately 35% of all pre-charge decisions in England and Wales.
