Activity five: Newspaper report - 1 to 5 minutes
Overview
An interactive activity to demonstrate how different writing techniques are used. In essence this is a split activity: Activity 5 opens the lesson and Activity 8 (below) actually closes it.

To demonstrate how facts can be communicated in different styles.

Activity six: Two tests - 10 minutes
Overview
An explanation using illustrations of how the two stage test that the prosecution service uses is applied.
Learning Objective
To educate students about how the CPS makes its decisions.
Learning Outcome
To enable the student to apply the prosecution test to the evidence contained within the file.

Activity seven: Mock file - 30 minutes
Overview
A mock CPS file which takes students through the decision-making processes used by the prosecution. Students will listen to an Audio resource and follow the spoken word in the case file, After the resource has been comprehended students will be asked to make a decision on whether to prosecute or not.

Activity eight: Newspaper report -2 to 5 minutes
Overview
An interactive activity designed to stimulate group discussion concerning the concept of fairness, freedom of speech and the role of the media.
