CPS Derbyshire area retraction regarding the case of Robert Dockerill

09/08/2007

This press release from CPS Derbyshire contains a retraction of some incorrect information in our previous press release

On 4 May 2007 Derbyshire CPS issued a News Release regarding the case of Robert Dockerill.

On 4 May 2007 at Birmingham Crown Court Robert Dockerill was convicted on two counts of making indecent images of a child and five of possessing indecent images of a child.  He was sentenced to a three years Community Rehabilitation Order, concurrent on each of the seven counts, and ordered to attend a sex offenders' programme.

In our News Release we made the following statements:

"1. A former councillor, prospective Parliamentary candidate, and head of sixth form at Loughborough Grammar School has today been sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.

2. He has been disqualified from working with children."

Please be aware that, in fact, Robert Dockerill was not disqualified from working with children.  We also understand that the information that he was a prospective Parliamentary candidate, was also incorrect.
