The Crown Prosecution Service has written Core Quality Standards. These tell you what you can expect from us. We try to make sure that we deliver the service written in the Core Quality Standards.
Core Quality Standards are important because you depend on us to make the right decisions when we charge people with a crime.
We are writing new standards and we want to know what you think about them.
This is not a summary of the Core Quality Standards. It is an easy read version.
It uses plain English and pictures to tell you what is written in the consultation.
Some words are hard. Words that are underlined and blue are explained in the glossary.

Glossary
- Charge
A charge is made when the Crown Prosecution Service say that they think a person has done a crime and should go to court.
The court will decide if there is enough evidence to show that the person did do the crime.- Consultation
