In the case of adoption, parental leave may be taken up to 8 years after your child has been placed with you.

Childcare Vouchers

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) offer a childcare voucher scheme where we contribute to the childcare costs for one child per family unit up to the age of 15 years (Where both parents are employed by the CPS, parents may nominate one child each).  This is paid through a childcare voucher scheme which are payable to registered childminders and nurseries. The current rates are as follows:

Pre-School Children: Dependant on your grade you will be entitled to claim either £10 or £15 per week (up to a max of 48 weeks per year). This ammount is pro-rata for part time staff.

School age Children:

  • After school/breakfast club - £2 per day (max 39 weeks per year)
  • Holiday clubs - £3 per day (max 10 weeks per year)

A combination of both Afterschool/breakfast club and Holiday club must not exceed 48 weeks per annum

We also offer to pay additional childcare costs which you may incur, when you are attending CPS training courses and detached duty.

Childcare Salary Sacrifice

In addition to the assistance the CPS provides by way of childcare vouchers we also operate a childcare salary sacrifice scheme.  This enables you to purchase vouchers through salary prior to deductions, and therefore you benefit with tax and National Insurance savings.
