The Solicitor General: Vera Baird QC, MP
The Attorney General, assisted by the Solicitor General, her deputy, provides the Government with advice on a range of legal matters, including proposed legislation. The Attorney General has final responsibility for enforcing criminal law. The Director of Public Prosecutions, for the Crown Prosecution Service, is answerable to Parliament through the Attorney General.
